Edwardian Art Nouveau Style Mahogany Lady's Desk Chair with Inlaid Cartouche Back, Oval Seat & Cabriole Legs

An exceptional Art Nouveau style mahogany piece from the early 20thC and in very good condition, with curved shield back on a moulded plinth, an inlaid oval cartouche of a classical urn and framed with scrolled stringing, having also swept and broad elbowed arms with looped hand-holds on shaped supports, an oval seat with later upholstery, covered in a burgundy & gold fabric with a design of sinuous branches & foliage, trimmed in a matching gold braid and dome-headed fixings, on cabriole front legs and out-swept rear, all on pad feet and united by a stylised crinoline & double-branched stretcher, this Edwardian lady's desk chair is both enormously stylish and eminently practical and will charm in any elegantly-furnished home, fully-deserving of the flattering attention it will surely attract.
